Saamis Family Programs
Community Care
A community-based program that promotes the well-being of the family as the basic unit of society.
Saamis Family Programs offers support services to assist children and families to effectively manage problem behaviours and promote a healthy, nurturing home environment.
It offers early and intensive re-integration services for children returning from residential treatment or foster homes.
The programs ensure that families are involved in the planning and decisions that impact their lives.
The objective is for the children and families to constructively manage their lives, independent of outside professional assistance.
Family Preservation
Family Preservation is a comprehensive, prevention program which attempts to keep families together. Children and teens may experience behavioural or emotional problems (acting out, running away, low self-esteem, immaturity, poor coping skills, feelings of rejection, poor social skills, etc.).
The goal of Family Preservation is to work with the family to stop the problems early and give them the tools to manage their child#s behaviour on an ongoing basis.
Family Preservation is also a key factor while a child is living in foster care or a residential treatment program. The goal is to assist the family in providing a supportive environment for their child#s return home. It is hoped the child can bring back those skills learned in the structured setting.
Positive, stable and consistent behavioural management and relationship skills are emphasized in order for the family to effectively live at home and in the community.
