Southeast Alberta Child and Family Services Authority releases 2003-04 annual report
(Medicine Hat, Oct. 6, 2004) # The Southeast Alberta Child and Family Services Authority (CFSA) has released its 2003-04 annual report, which is now available on the CFSA website, www.southeastalbertacfsa.gov.ab.ca.
#Our number one priority as an authority is keeping children and families safe in our region through protection and enhancement programs,# says Bryan Heninger, Chief Executive Officer of the CFSA. #We#re looking forward to making continuous improvements to our delivery of services to children, youth and families in the coming year.#
Among the highlights of 2003-04,
· Southeast Alberta Child and Family Services provided $1,604,000 or 11 per cent of its total fiscal budget for prevention/early intervention programs in the past year.
· Through our ongoing partnership with Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) and the Community Worker program, we have seen a number of creative and innovative programs in the smaller rural centres of the region.
· The average monthly number of open cases dropped in fiscal 2003-04 by almost 9 per cent to 329 from 360 giving us the lowest number of open files over a three-year period.
Southeast Alberta Child and Family Services Authority is responsible for delivering a range of services to children and families living in the region as well as ensuring provincial standards set by Alberta Children#s Services are met. These services include:
· child protection
· family enhancement
· child care licensing and subsidy
· family violence prevention services
· support for families of children with disabilities
· foster care
· adoption services, and
· working with communities in coordination with Family and Community Support Services (FCSS).
